John Currently works in Texas Athletics as the Assistant Director for Communications for Football and Track and Field/Cross Country.
He is a Lee’s Summit, Missouri native who completed his undergraduate and graduate studies within the School of Media and Strategic Communications, and more specifically the Sports Media Program, at Oklahoma State. He completed his undergraduate degree (Sports Media – Strategic Communications) in the spring of 2017, and earned his master’s degree in Mass Communication two years later. Langham worked in the OSU Athletics Communication office during his last four years in Stillwater, first serving as a student assistant for two years and later as a graduate assistant. During that time, he worked with all of Oklahoma State’s 14 varsity sports, but spent the most time with the football and softball programs. He credits OSU’s sports media program for preparing him to work in the communications field and to be ready to take the leap from student to graduate assistant to full-time SID at a major Power Five institution in a short timespan.
He Leaves you with this advice: "Those that are successful in sports media are those that put in the time and energy that it demands. There are no shortcuts and the work is demanding, but those that are willing to sacrifice nights out, holidays, weekends and so forth are the ones that will be successful in this field."
