Hallie Hart, who hails from Chandler, Oklahoma, started chasing her sports media dreams at Oklahoma State before her senior year of high school. She went to Dave Hunziker’s Sports Media Camp, which sparked her love for the real-world opportunities OSU’s sports media program offers. After attending Sports Media Camp again the next summer, Hart began her OSU career and immersed herself in as many sports-media-related experiences as she could, from living on the Media House floor of Village C to writing for the O’Colly.
During her four years of college, she has held a variety of editorial positions with the O’Colly Media Group and has served as a beat reporter for five sports. Her work at the O’Colly, as well as the lessons she learned from SMSC professors, provided her with the skills she needed for her internships. During summer 2018, Hart wrote news stories and weekly sports columns as the reporting intern at the Stillwater News Press. The next summer, Hart was the sports intern at The Oklahoman, where she covered events that included Oklahoma City Dodgers games, the Women’s College World Series and a BIG3 basketball game.
No matter where sports journalism takes her, she loves opportunities to connect with people and share their stories. Hart is also passionate about leadership. At OSU, she has been the president of the Associated Press Sports Editors student chapter for two years, and she has held officer positions in Association for Women in Sports Media and Sports Media Club.
“When I chose to study sports media at Oklahoma State, I had no doubt I would enjoy it, but my college experience has exceeded my expectations,” Hart said. “The SMSC faculty members genuinely care about helping students succeed, and the people I met on the Media House floor are some of my closest friends today. Because of OSU, I have gained confidence as a reporter, made lasting connections with others and gained valuable work experience that has prepared me for a career in sports media.”
