Matt McClain

Matt McClain joined Wichita State as a Graduate Assistant in August of 2019

Matt came to Oklahoma State from Grand Rapids, Michigan, and capitalized on the many opportunities available at OSU. He worked for both the O'Colly and Oklahoma State Athletics during his four years on campus. He is currently the SID for Cross Country and Track and Field at Wichita State. Matt also assists with men's basketball and runs the team's social media accounts on a daily basis. The benefits of graduating from OSU's sports media program come with the real-world experience the program provides. In and out of the classroom, students get a first-hand look and feel of the sports media industry. Students that come out of OSU's program have already gained valuable experience that can set you apart. He found that his experience at OSU was comprehensive in not understanding the field, but understanding how to be a quality professional within this field. When making the transition to Wichita State, he felt like he had the tools in his belt to succeed at a high level.

He leaves you with this: "First, I would say that the program helped me learn and strengthen skills in sports media through some of the best opportunities in the country. Not everyone gets the chances that students at OSU do. Second, I would tell them that the program helps you connect (which as you will learn is a major key in this industry) and form relationships with people that are already scattered across the country. I consider these people family, and this program made that happen."
