Patrick Osborne is the Assistant Director of Athletics Communications and Public Relations for the University of South Carolina
Patrick grew up in Mustang, Okla., and graduated with a degree in sports media with an emphasis in multimedia journalism in 2017. Shortly after graduation, he accepted a job with the University of South Carolina. His primary duties include serving as the sport contact for softball and men’s soccer with secondary duties consisting of assisting with video support for a variety of other teams. Patrick also serves as the primary contact for equestrian, women’s tennis and cross country. While at Oklahoma State, he worked in the media relations office as a student assistant his final two years of college. During that time, he was the sport contact for softball and helped with social media efforts for the men’s and women’s basketball teams. Outside of his job with Carolina, he helped with the social media posts for the 2019 National Championship in San Jose, Calif., on the College Football Playoff social media platforms.
Patrick doesn't think there’s enough time in the world to list all the benefits of graduating from the Sports Media Program at Oklahoma State. he is incredibly thankful for his four years in Stillwater. "The Sports Media Program allowed me the opportunity to learn from some of the best professors in the world who constantly pushed me every single day to prepare for life after graduation. Along with my professors I was lucky enough to study with peers, far more talented and creative than myself, who have become my best friends and role models in this industry. It would be a struggle to find a learning experience that matches the one found in Paul Miller. Because of Oklahoma State professors, I was set on the path that’s led me to where I am today. Without their advice, I would have never applied for the position in the media relations office as an undergrad that eventually led to what’s become my dream job at South Carolina. I owe my position, and success if you’d like to call it that, to the Oklahoma State Sports Media Program."
He leaves you with this: "Take advantage of every opportunity. Join those clubs. Make friends. Engage with your professors. Take notes and keep them for the real world, you’ll look back on them. This program is filled with talent everywhere you look and gives you the chance to get experience you can’t get anywhere else. Take advantage. It will pay off in the long run."
